Last note for the term

Hi everyone,
I hope you are all looking forward to the holidays coming up and that you are going to get those reading logs filled in.  If everyone in the class completes their reading log, we go in the draw to get pizza shouted by Mr. Macmillan...that would be awesome.
If you would like extra books to take home over the break, let me know, I will be happy to fill up a book bags with readers.  Remember, there is only one way to become a better reader and that is to read, read, read!!

A reminder that tomorrow we will be having a shared lunch, Mrs Thompson and Mrs Kemp are coming along too and hopefully Mylene will pop in for a visit.

In Term 4, come dressed in your SUMMER uniform and bring your togs on the FIRST day because we have swimming in the odd weeks.
Thankfully our swimming is in the afternoon 1.30-2.30pm.
A couple of practices getting in and out of swimming attire might be beneficial for some-as would a little practice in looking after towels/googles/swimming bags.
MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS NAMED.  That way if it is lost, it is easy to identify.

Portfolios and RE books go home tomorrow.  Remember there is the two stars and a wish page for parents/caregivers to fill in and the whanau page in the RE book.

Please take the time to go through your child's work and TALK with them about their progress and goals.
We are all on track to meet our goals however it could be a timely reminder.

In their portfolio you will find a copy of their Spelling List, if you are at a loss for something to do over the break, practice some spelling or story writing;)

Enjoy your holiday Room 18, I will look forward to seeing you back at school in Term 4.

Week 10

Hi everyone,
Last week of the term and we are all thinking where on earth does the time go.

There will be another reading log going out this week. Please keep up the reading in the holidays. It really does help to maintain their reading levels when they continue reading. The public library have heaps of cool books the kids will be able to read independently. There is only one way to become a better reader, that is to read, read and read.

We would really like to have a shared lunch on Friday to celebrate all our hard work this term. Could you please provide a small plate of yummy (healthyish) food for us to share.

Portfolios and RE books will go out this Friday. Please go through them with your child and talk about what is in them.
Please return both in the first week of Term 4 with the RE Whanau page and the Two Stars and a Wish page filled in.

This week...
Wednesday: school singing 8.45am
Thursday: our last GO4it with Tim from Sport BOP
Friday: shared Lunch
Sausage sizzle and juicies for sale

We are looking forward to Term 4 and hopefully a little more sunshine.  I can't wait to get in the pool!

The children were pretty tired last week, it's always the way towards the end of term.  Make sure they are getting plenty of sleep and are eating plenty of healthy food.  This helps a lot.

See you all tomorrow.

Catching up..

Every day I am surprised by the way children amuse themselves.  Have a look at what they get up to.
The lego fidget spinner is still a hit!

The writing table is a popular choice too, lots of interesting stories happening in those books.

Gorgeous

I hope you guys carry on inventing and creating.  Keep up the great work.

Science is alive and well in Room 18

This is such a cool shot.

Ask your kids what is happening here..

Week 9

Aaaarrrgghhhhh!  Week 9 already.  Where is the year going?

I had my first proper game of golf today, Yay!.  Was it good? Well, let's just say that I'm not the best golfer yet, but I shall persevere.

That's my orange ball so close to the hole on the 2nd, my next shot went into the bunker.  I was so close to a birdie. I could have cried! But I dug myself out and went on to play the rest of the course.  I still don't know how it got in there.

Perseverance is a hard thing to teach but it is a valuable quality.  I admire the perseverance of all the learners in Room 18, you inspire me to become a better golfer.  Go you!!
